Science outreach activities

I am very keen to take part in outreach activities to discuss my research in an informal, and above all, interactive way. Previous activities have included school visits, demonstration lecture series for a number of schools on "What makes volcanic eruptions explosive?" (awarded by Royal Dublin Society), and invited lectures to interested groups (e.g. Irish Geological Association, West of England Geological Association, Southampton Geology Group).

I have also been awarded funding from the Geologists' Association (Curry Fund) to design and install a series of interpretive panels along the East Fife coast, describing the geology and natural history in an easily accessible way. For this, I am collaborating with the Earth Science Illustrator, Gary Hincks.
